The bust

I was out shooting today when I came up on a confrontational scene. I was trying to make a few photos with my 24/1.4 lens at the time so I was under lensed. Two secret police were arresting a scalper near the Worker's Stadium. I immediately began shooting frames. One of the officers pushed me back and held me there.

I waited for a moment and watched the detained man. He was going to struggle again in a few moments. I slowly changed to my 35/1.4 lens, a far more reliable lens for me. Sure enough the man struggled once again and the officer holding me lunged back towards the man. I waited again for them to turn towards my way and then I moved in and started photographing.

Now I shoot with a Canon 5D and I always shoot on RAW and my CF cards are probably dated so the speed of the thing is lacking. The buffer will fill up quickly if you're not cognizant of the matter. I was mindful of that. I picked my frames. Once the man was on the ground the other officer lunged at me again. He pushed me and hit me in the head. I don't think he was trying to hurt me badly, more just trying to scare me. I stood there a bit longer grabbed a few more frames. The crowd began to turn against me a bit so quickly left the scene before backup could arrive.

What confused me about the whole process is why this man? He was in a sea of scalpers. People scalp right next to officers all of the time. Surely he couldn't just be an example for everyone else to follow. Cause it didn't work.
